Sorry Mr. Y.C Devashwar(Chairman,ITC Limited...) for the decision of the Health Minister, every public place is a NO SMOKING ZONE... in the overall turnover of ITC , Wills has got a major share, they are leaders in Ciggarette Manufacturing and sales... but ITC expected this kind of situation one day and like a smart company they never had a reliance on it... they are in various businesses like the clothing with Wills lifestyle and the high flying John Players, they are into FMCG with superia and Sunfeasttt.... Well, frankly speaking ,big businesses never fear with these kinds of bans, it is always the middle man who has to face a twisted music... It is the middle man who has to face the problems...
ITC can manufacture less, but think abt the lacs of Panwalas who have their meals reliant on the selling of ciggarettes, there's no ban on smoking, but for sure , reduction in the public smoking would affect them.... but these questions or situations would arise if Smokin gets banned in reality... :-):-):-):-)
Few questions for u???
1. Did u find the level of smoking reduced??
2.Any change in the polution level??
3. Any reductin in number of cancer patients??
Well, i m no authority to criticize the decisions of govt, neither i have a command over the reasons for not imposing the ban, but imposing a ban in a 115 crore populated country is not tht easy.. either a ban on the supply of ciggarette can solve the purpose of health woes or a complete ban on the smokin is meaningful... imposing a public ban is a half hearted effort... I see a lot of ppl still doing smokin at public places , i try a lot to say them tht it is illegal now, but i cant.. because there's a problem of empowerment, i am not empowered to take an action, by the time i report the illicit behaviour of a person, he'll vanish.. u r left with no option except sayin to yourself tht it was illegal...
I m not in favour of smoking ,its one of the worst things i find... i hate ppl for smokin, i am just irritated when someone smokes in front of me... even at the time of raggin in hostel, i dared to say my seniors not to smoke(atleast in my front), but the question is... how the ban on public smokin going to help ppl... if we Indians would have been so law obeyin , we would not require some many IPC sections..
Law has been created... Question like alwys is the enforcement.. u cant run around 50crore ppl(approx this number of ppl smoke in India)... how many authorities would look after it.. The mechanism is tough.. Cigarrette is an addiction,, no one can leave smoking in a day... Empowering ppl is not possible too....
Above all, the most thought provokin question is ??? What is a public place???
Act has a narrow meanin for it... but every place can be a public place.. for a landlord , his house is a private place... he can smoke there... bt to his tenants who are staying with him , it can be a public place....
Point to ponder is ... Is Smoking really banned at public places??? Is it worth being banned??? I m sure a lot many of my readers would be having a different opinion on it.. i m seeking such kind of opinions..Please add comments...!!!

we have a right.. but in a 100 crore population u cant exercise this right... what if the next person doesnt agree to u... empowerment is missing!!!
