How Bit Torrent Works

How do Bit Torrents Work? BitTorrent is a protocol that enables fast downloading of large files using minimum Internet bandwidth. It costs nothing to use and includes no spyware or pop-up advertising. Unlike other download methods, BitTorrent maximizes transfer speed by gathering pieces of the file you want and downloading these pieces simultaneously from people who already have them. This has to be understood while understanding three download processes 1.       Traditional Client-Server Downloading ·          You open a Web page and click a link to download a file to your computer. The Web browser software on your computer (the client ) tells the server (a central computer that holds the Web page and the file you want to download) to transfer a copy of the file to your computer. The transfer is handled by a protocol (a set of rules), such as FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or HTTP (HyperText T...

GoldBook in making

With USD 500 million coming from Goldman Sachs, and in becoming the first website to go ahead of google on US charts , facebook is rocking these days. Zuckerberg's master piece has converted the IAD into FAD, the facebook addict disorder, people getting crazy about it, with all brackets falling into the category, on one side where we have kids, students into it, the other side includes corporates and biggies using facebook as a daily food. Facebook in 2010 surpassed the gigantic Google as the most visited website in the US, registering 8.9% of all US web visits between January and November 2010, according to New York-based Internet tracker Experian Hitwise. However personally I feel that the craze for facebook is mainly due to the platform it has created for the people, specially the way it became a daily stuff due to regular innovations and needs. Even in terms of finance, the Facebook has raised $500 million from Goldman Sachs and a Russian investor in a deal that values t...

We are into 3G stage now :-)

Indians have already joined the elite list of countries to announce a policy for third generation mobile service that will enable customers to enjoy voice, video, data and downloading facilities on their mobile phones. INDIA has 60 Mhz of 3G spectrum available. The auction will take place in the 2.1 Ghz band. The government has set a base price of Rs 2,020 crore (Rs 20.20 billion) for each bid for a pan-India license. Initially, there will be three to five operators to sell the 3G services, including state-run BSNL and MTNL. The state-run telecom firms have an edge to start the 3G services earlier than others as they do not have to bid for the spectrum as they only have to match the highest bid in their respective circles. The plan: There is no firm date set for the auction of 3G spectrum, but it is likely to take place before February 2009 since the government may need the money to keep its deficit within control current estimates put the initial entry fee bids that the government wi...

Nano Technologyyyyyyyyyyy

NANOTECHNOLOGY Nano means small (10^-9 m) but of high potency , and emerging with large applications piercing through all the discipline of knowledge, leading to industrial and technological growth.   Nano-sized structure needs to be magnified over 10 million times before we can easily appreciate its fine detail with the naked eye.  Nanotechnology is already having its impact on products as diverse as novel foods, medical devices, chemical coatings, personal health testing kits, sensors for security systems, water purification units for manned space craft, displays for hand-held computer games, and high-resolution cinema screens. Nanotechnology is expected to have an impact on nearly every industry.  The U.S. National Science Foundation has predicted that the global market for nanotechnologies will reach $1 trillion or more within 20 years.
