All they want is a pleasant experience for us

My experiences with this gloomy world continue. I may sound repetitive and annoying, but there's a reality check for all of us who think that the world is fine as long as the Covid-19 doesn't hit us and our paychecks continue to flow into the banks.

The store in the picture is amongst the busiest in the area, always remains full and explodes with the people on the Saturdays. A typical brand in a store, let's say a Van Heusen makes about ā‚¹200,000 to ā‚¹220,000 of sales on the weekend. As of today, the store does about ā‚¹10,000 to ā‚¹15,000 of revenues of the same brand, and the footfalls are not even 5 per cent of what they otherwise used to witness. Ironically, a store of this size would have 8-10 salesman with an average basic salary of ā‚¹10,000 to ā‚¹12,000 a month and the balance they earn (~ā‚¹5,000-ā‚¹7,500) is all linked to the sales of the brand. For them, purchases from the store cover-up for the livelihood, savings and the investments and there are no concept of "work from home". All they ensure is that the people who come to the stores feel safe and continue to experience a pleasant visit. The stores wouldn't make money in trying times and so will be its people.

So next time, when you hear or feel that staying home is the new normal; think of them and the cascading impact this would have on everything we are attached with. They don't need our sympathies, but the luxuries that we have in our work do not extend to all strata of the working population.

This is unfortunate but true. This is only tip of iceberg, complete service sector with consumer interface is disrupted will continue the same for long time. Reality is many will be pained by this but very few who will come out as no body wants to take a chance. These businesses need to adapt change in strategy very soon like trial at home or shop at apartment complexes etc. Otherwise this disruption will continue for some more time.

Holidays have started, No great work to do these days, except getting inclined to TV and gossips, ā€˜Roz ki faaltu baateinā€™ would be the core activity in my list regularly till 5 th October.   Will be missing my college buddies, Its always a dependence tht gets created when you meet the same ppl regularly, The best and worst part of ā€œChhutiyan-Holidaysā€™ is the ā€œending/missing of monotonous routineā€ , on one side I m happy tht this break would end up my daily 9 to 6 college routine and on the same time I will be / already started missing my friends and foes J . Tension mat lo, foes are an import...

Agriculture - Oxygen for manyyyy

Talking on agriculture, About 75% of the Indian population lives in rural areas and about 80% of this population is dependent on agriculture for its livelihood.Agriculture accounts for about 37% of the national income. The development of the rural areas and of agriculture and its allied activities thus becomes vital for the rapid development of the economy as a whole. Agricultural Productivity Even though India occupies the first or second position in the world in several crops in terms of area and production, it's rank in terms of productivity per hectare in the world is 52 for rice, 38 for wheat and much low in several other crops. The productivity of some crops is not only low but also remained stagnant over the years. The yield gap needs to be bridged through an integrated package of technology and agricultural policies to reap the untapped production potential, particularly, in rain-fed and other low productivity areas. What the INDIA INC says abt it? A...
