This note explains Covid onset in very understandable context. It doesn't have a medical advise but is useful in understanding as to why we should be mindful of all the symptoms.
Covid infection spreads exponentially in the body. So the first week, usually people show mild symptoms. This is because infection is still incubating in your body. It is the most crucial time to take action.
If not treated in first week, the infection gradually spreads to the lungs and this is where the things get difficult. This leads to sudden drop in oxygen, extreme weakness, and probably need for hospitalization.
Because of higher immunity in youngsters, they have strong capacity to hold back, thereby showing altogether no symptoms in first week. This leads to a belief that body is working absolutely normal. However the virus enjoys this time to grow.
By the second week, the virus has grown and even the best immunity cannot fight it anymore. This leads to body suddenly collapsing and urgent need for medical attention.
The symptoms are very strong because virus has grown beyond. Youngsters with weak immunity show symptoms since early days, leading to quicker testing and early beginning of medication. That stops the viral growth.
For most youngsters, their immunity tries best to protect them but lack of visible symptoms lead to unwanted delay. This delay is the reason for most hospitalizations and longer treatment requirements, sometimes even leading to fatal cases.
What can you do to protect yourself from this? Get tested at the very first symptom. Do not delay. In early days while virus is still incubating, the RTPCR might turn out to be negative. Hence also get a blood test done - specially CRP, D-Dimers along with CBC.
This will give your doctor an indication on the possibility and the spread.Earliest symptoms might include headache, diaorrhea, feeling of fever, weakness, etc. Keep close monitoring of oxygen levels, coughing frequency, temperature and pulse.
Remember - Time is critical. You might be the healthiest person with best of immunity, but if you let the virus grow, it might lead to trouble a few days later. Also unknowingly, you might have spread the virus to a many by then.
