Continuing from the previous post, clearly, the world is going to change forever. We may want to believe that nature has taken the course and acted against the age-long human barbarity. But the truth of the matter is, a few weeks or a couple of months of lockdown may not be necessarily course correct the damage that we have done for several decades. What this pandemic will inevitably result in is stress on the economy, normalcy or the way we operate. All this is inescapable in the short run, and there will undoubtedly be a restoration in the medium term, say a couple of years. While it is easy to laugh it off with fun banters and memes, the next few quarters are essential for all of us to stay relevant in the new normal we are getting in. But then, for me, the optimism is that the Almighty will bless us and continue to guide us perpetually

So, this big-boss style familiarity continues at the house, the boss narrates a desired (not mandatory) task, and the nation follows. Some of us linked this to a spiritual correlation and many others completed this in anticipation of a more considerable benefit as we redefine solidarity and unity in these difficult times. While this clarion call by the boss had a very defined scope, once again, we overdid this with crackers, noise and exuberance that we weren't expected to. I wish we could understand that the festivities are a far cry from where we are today, and there is no normal where we are returning to. Ironically this is what money does to our mind. We are not corrupt by design, but the utter thought of having an opportunity to make surpluses takes us to a path significantly away from being human. So, an anonymous investor isn't worried that COVID19 will spread to his city/nation but is rather pleased to know that the private diagnostic firms may soon be allowed to test the virus and this will be a great bull run for listed diagnostic companies. And this, in turn, revives hospitals, healthcare providers and sundry. Do we even have a conscience or we have just lost all that to the greed of creating this superfluous wealth which will obviously not go along with us to the place we are all destined to someday Sent from my iPad

Human beings are the most selfish of all tribes. The guy - Rana Kapoor- in his peak may have helped some 100,000 people one way or the other, and in the process, he may have served his interests too(big deal? We all don't ?). Yet when it comes to crisis; the people, including some of his beneficiaries, have held him guilty without charges being pronounced again him. The trial of media is already on, and the man is accused of almost every possible crime which one could think of in the financial world. I pity this world which doesn't have empathy towards waiting for the truth to come. Being in a privileged position doesn't always make you guilty of wilful default. There must be some wrongdoings on the banks part, but I am sure there are quite a few banks(including PSUs) which do not have such issues.  -- Sent from my iPad

First by being aware of a few social media nomenclature like FOMO. It stands for 'Fear Of Missing Out', the anxiety of the Millennials of missing out on what people are sharing, including the most trivial stuff. Boomers are typically more hesitant to embrace that mentality, maybe because opening up means exposing vulnerabilities. So, JOMO  is 'Joy Of Missing Out', the belief that non-disclosure leads to blissfulness. Clearly FOMO and JOMO are two extremes of the spectrum and are bound to create the generation gap.  Can we then not look for a balance between the two, the third alternative, JOVA? I don't know who I should credit or discredit, but last couple of years have been incredible for India and it's people and it is not in a good way. Disappointed to note that the politics has completely taken over us and the ideological differences have reached our houses and personal devices. We are not only fighting amongst us on difference of opinion, but also ensuring that the dissent against a majoritarian view is killed to its core, to the extent that the voice is never raised against any impending thoughts or disagreements we may have.  I am deeply saddened by the fact that most of us now are actually made to believe that the opinion shared by a larger section of society is deemed right since it has the weight of a the population around, and in case you have reservations to even contest that, you are probably branded as a threat.  I may have had little problems with CAA or NRC if it wasn't done for the political incentives and the treatment of the people not sharing t...

We attach too much likelihood to spectacular, flashy or loud outcomes. Anything silent or invisible we downgrade in our minds. Our brains imagine show-stopping outcomes more readily than mundane ones. We think dramatically, not quantitatively.
