If they cared for you

If they cared for you, they wouldn't have asked you for self-damaging actions; if they were worried for your health; they wouldn't have transformed a divine feeling into a political drama; if they were concerned, they wouldn't have glorified the enthusiasm of crowd emerging into election rallies. Not acting in time and politicizing gatherings in the name of religion has only shown us our worth in their eyes. It's not about support machinery anymore; it's about a few politicians who do not consider us more than vote bank. Even if something happens tomorrow, it's only a number that will be tagged to us. If not for yourself, think for the million frontline folks struggling to keep us alive and healthy. Please stop being a dumb stooge and resist ridiculous activities accelerating the virus spread, even if it means not listening to someone you know very well. #wakeup #maskup #staysafe Sent from my iPhone

India today

I may sound like a pseudo critic, but this is India in my view. There's a head of country who's running after mics and that has become his priority. There are state governments who are happy reporting an eye pleasing statistic because they don't want their reputation to dent. There's an opposition which is trying to beat the Comedy Central and then there's a virus which has become rogue and "aatmanirbhar" when it comes to its prosperity. There are people who still want to believe that Covid is an exaggeration and all this is crap. So god bless us all

High time

It is high time that people own up to spreading this virus and stop blaming China or anything based on our political liking. While the last year was more about being cautious and staying protected indoors, there's no denying that Covid has now infiltrated into most houses(including us last week when we tested positive, thanks to God, our family, and friends that we are recovering and holding up well). If there is something that we can do about it is not to take it casually. There's a need for us to know all home therapies and potential cures, but at the same time, we must follow the right medical protocols, not resort only to the WhatsApp forwards. The situation in the bigger cities is not great despite being equipped with good infrastructure, economic power, resources, and great attention from media and government alike. Covid doesn't discriminate based on region, religion, or social status; hence, it is foolish to assume that the smaller cities or bigger houses can dodge ...

Traffic issues

What do you think we need to do to solve for the Indian traffic woes? A crash course on traffic rules(we, the educated folks, need most) A detox program to deflate the bulging egos of neo rich(again, we, the educated folks) Just common sense and respect for others and their time(once again, we , the educated folks lack it) -- Sent from my iPad

Tanishq ad

I couldn't fathom that Tanishq had to take down the Ekatvam advertisement. How can a well designed, and rightly intended message oppose the harmony? Some of us have lost it completely, and for our survival, it has become important to bring hate in everything that fosters togetherness and could unsettle their "divide and rule" led businesses. I am at a loss to understand their logic that ~80% of the country's population is under risk, and such messages exaggerate this threat. -- Sent from my iPad

The big bull

Awestruck by the fantastic effort put up by the team of "Scam 1992-the Harshad Mehta Story". Quite a balanced account of the wrongdoings and loopholes the system had in the pre-digital financial markets arena. Of course, the events had colossal damages on the life of people; it is hard to concur that a single man amongst the army of government regulators could pull off something like this. For someone like me who has just read and not necessarily experienced this, it is effortless to put things on to the manners and prevailing practices rather than singling out the man in question. I so wanted to reflect on the statement he made in the interview "I don't want bouquets but don't give me brickbats".  -- Sent from my iPad

Some good signs

It was business as usual for the traffic in Bengaluru, and this is not at all a    piece of bad news. While this chaos causes me frustration, it certainly signalled an improvement in the overall activity that runs our houses. For a change, the aberration on the roads today was not a regretting sight. That said, in about 30 minutes of my drive, I had to give way to 2 ambulances which alerted me to be mindful of the problem we are drowned in. This movement could be for the other reasons, but then Covid comes as the most natural guess in today's time.  -- Sent from my iPad

Inconsequential empathically

I have been an extremely moody blogger for long, but since the last few months, it seems that I am writing only to share the melancholy that surrounds me. Not a post I should write(for others to read) on a Monday morning and not that the good things aren't happening around, but guess, going out on the weekend or a weekday, the illustrations of the issues this world is grappling with have profoundly controlled the lens of my life. It is hard for me to accept as to how can we be so indifferent to be thinking only about the life that we could manage within the four walls of the house. Certainly, some of us are chosen ones that the disruption outside hasn't impacted us widely but has that made us think too much just about the family or us? Is the new normal just about being self-focussed, no matter how inconsequential we become socially or empathically? Do we even care as to what repercussions it would have on the new era we are entrenching, or the question remains just about survi...

A new high

We call 'Gandhi' the father of the nation. While for the academia, we like to remember him this way, over time, all the values that he taught us (simplicity, integrity, self-belief, non-violence, respect for all) have lost their significance in the clamour of amplified issues around religion, caste, politics and sundry. For several years, we were facilitating him at least once a year despite of the fact that our actions and reflections were always contrary to the beliefs he discoursed. Today, on his birth anniversary, we have touched a new high(low?) by having his assassin being respected with his action being fostered on social media. We could have a difference of ideologies but guess on this, the blind followers of the Demi-Gods have gone way too far.  -- Sent from my iPad

Solution is within us

The problem, we, as a nation, have to address, is the rising crime against women, and besides the government, all of us are somewhere responsible for its magnification. We may want to believe it otherwise, but for ages, we have let such things happen, whether by conveniently ignoring such issues given they have happened to someone unknown(why should I care?) or that subtly our brains have got wired to patriarchy such that some of those issues do not fret our so-called normal lives(Hey, this is normal, what's the fuss?). Benefitting such situations, the people in extreme power, whether in the government or opposition, have also ensured that the common people never diagnose such issues and rather tangle them in soft politics around the region(Oh this is Uttar Pradesh), religion(the girl was a Muslim), reputation(Hey, if she is coming out with a boy in the night, this is inevitable), revenge(must have been a feud), or never-ending retribution(If I am involved, I am gone). Our retaliat...
